Internal thread bottles were first used around the 1870's before the Riley patent stopper was introduced in 1892. Becoming very popular with aerated water manufacturers with in Australia they were still used in the 1960's. The stopper itself was made from rubber, ebonite and sometimes wood, and often had the companies name on as well.
